My biggest reminder to students is to keep your hands to yourself. This has never been as important as it is this year. We will also talk a lot throughout the year about using kind words to everybody! Stay in touch on DOJO to check out how your student is doing throughout the day! DOJO is the best way to stay in contact with me!

Homework:
If your student does not finish their work in class, it then becomes homework. Your student also needs to spend at least 30 minutes each evening doing independent reading. Please note: independent reading is not you reading to your child. They can read aloud to you, but need to read it themselves. The best thing you can do as a parent is listen to them read, and ask them about their reading. Make sure they understand it! Once they've finished their independent reading, then read to them if you have time. They gain so much from independent reading, as well as listening to you read! I understand that life is busy and I believe students need active play, so I rarely assign any specific homework! If you wish to practice anything else with them, practice math facts! They will be the most important thing your child needs to master this year.

Late Work: If a student turns in an assignment that is late, they will have 10% taken off the final grade. An assignment can also be redone, but will have 10% taken off the final grade as well.
Make-Up Work: If a student is absent, they will need to get their make-up work out of the absent basket on the date of their return. They may come in at recess and work on it, or they may take it home for homework. After their return, it is due by the end of the following day. Some exceptions may be made. Please contact me on DOJO if you have concerns.
